The Government Employees Benefit Association (GEBA) was founded as a D.C/MD-area not-for-profit membership organization in 1957 by a group of intel community employees—by offering supplemental insurance benefits then not offered by the Federal Government. Since then, GEBA membership and services have expanded to serve the broader federal workforce, the Military, and families with financial & retirement planning, in addition to insurance. With approximately 16,000 members GEBA is Feds’ Trusted Financial Partner. Our staff of 18 is diverse with a high retention rate and includes Veterans and Veteran spouses from the Ft. Meade community and beyond.

GEBA is seeking a self-directed Junior or Senior Marketing/Marketing Management major with excellent writing skills to assist the Director of Member Programs & Communications in implementing projects that promote GEBA offerings and services to federal employees.

The opportunity: Gain practical job and professional skills in a not-for-profit and service-focused professional environment. Exposure to typical marketing-related activities including but not limited to brand strategy, content creation, and campaign results analysis. The person would participate in weekly marketing meetings in-house and with our external direct marketing firm. Expectations are for:

Wage Per Hour: $17
Schedule: Part-Time
Hours per week: 12-20 during a 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. workday as a non-exempt employee
Days Per week: flexible scheduling, 8-10 weeks
Location & Type: BWI District/Hanover, MD (on-site)

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities include: promotional copywriting for on-brand for communications, PowerPoint presentations preparation, website updates, proofreading, promotional event materials preparation, application of A.I. to convert and deploy current content, administrative/program duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM databases strongly preferred
• Junior/Rising Junior or Rising Senior that is a marketing/marketing management major
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Outgoing, self-directed, and unflustered by multi-tasking and deadlines
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn, including new software
• Understand confidentiality and discretion
• Adept in all Microsoft Applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel as well as graphic design programs (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), website content language and platforms (WordPress), and e-marketing software (Constant Contact) preferred
• Knowledge of social media best practices and tools. A.I. tools
• Interest in membership associations and or not-for-profit organizations a plus.

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
• The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
