Meet the Summer 2024 Leading EDGE Interns!

After receiving more than 650 student applications — triple the amount from last year — we are so excited to introduce you to Cohort #3 of The Nonprofit Alliance Foundation’s (TNPAF) Leading EDGE Student Internship Program! These amazing students will spend the next ten weeks interning with their host employers and engaging in professional development through Leading EDGE.

Allyyah Aali 
Internship Host | Shatterproof  

Meet Allyyah Aali, a driven Public Relations and Advertising major at Towson University with a minor in International Studies. Passionate about fashion PR, non-profits, and event planning, she is dedicated to making a meaningful impact. At Towson, Allyyah is President of the Homecoming Committee and Coordinator of Special Events for the Black Student Union, honing her leadership skills. 

This summer, Allyyah will intern at Shatterproof as a Fundraising Intern, supporting their mission to combat addiction. Outside of school, she channels her love for fashion through content creation. Allyyah aspires to become a leading Fashion Public Relations Specialist or Event Planning Director, blending her passions with professional excellence.

Daniel Brusch 
Internship Host | The Expectations Project

Daniel Brusch is a rising senior at the City College of New York studying sociology with a double minor in Black Studies and Public Affairs. For the past seven years, he has worked with nonprofit organizations and government agencies to fight for the most underserved communities in New York City. This year, he will be interning with the Expectations Project to carry on his work of shaping public policy to serve low-income people of color.

Evie Chhetry 
Internship Host | Moore

Evie Chhetry is a senior Technology and Information Design student at the University of Maryland, College Park. She applies her technological skills in research, prototyping, and analytics to deeply understand users and their needs. She prioritizes a growth mindset and teamwork. Evie firmly believes creativity thrives in a collaborative environment where diverse ideas can grow. Outside of school, she likes oil painting, dancing, and film/digital photography to express herself. As a Digital Media Planning intern at Moore, Evie is eager to tackle challenges & contribute to meaningful campaigns.

Virti Choksi 
Internship Host | Capital Area Food Bank 

Virti Choksi is a senior at the University of Maryland, College Park, studying Public Health Science with a minor in Science, Technology, Ethics, and Policy. Her internship with Capital Area Food Bank this summer focuses on community outreach. Virti is passionate about creating equitable access to healthcare and food, and is eager to work with an organization dedicated to reducing food insecurity. She is also eager to explore the nonprofit sector and learn how to be directly involved with communities to make a difference.

Avery Davis 
Internship Host | Shatterproof

Avery Davis is a senior at George Washington University, majoring in Public Health with a minor in Sociocultural Anthropology. At GW, Avery served as the Philanthropy Chairperson for Kappa Kappa Gamma, where she successfully raised over $7,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of DC and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. This summer, Avery is a fundraising intern at Shatterproof, where she is eager to merge her passion for helping others with her fundraising experience. She hopes to gain insight into the mechanics of nonprofit fundraising and is looking forward to collaborating with The Nonprofit Alliance and the Shatterproof team.

Jasmine Dean 
Internship Host | Government Employee’s Benefit Association (GEBA) 

Jasmine Dean is a recent graduate of Towson University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication with a minor in marketing. She is eager to expand her experience in the marketing field. With a passion for helping others, Jasmine is enthusiastic about contributing her skills and knowledge to a nonprofit organization.

Andrea Flores 
Internship Host | PMG

Andrea Flores has recently graduated from Montgomery College with an Associate of Arts degree in Business and will be transferring to the University of Maryland as an Information Science major. Andrea currently volunteers at a nonprofit that raises service dogs for retired veterans. She has a passion for helping others and is excited to explore the nonprofit industry this summer with Production Management Group (PMG).

Saisha Handoo 
Internship Host | Moore 

Saisha Handoo is a rising junior at the University of Maryland College Park. She is an Information Systems major with a deep interest in the integration of technology and business. A fun fact about her is that she has lived in 5 countries till now. She looks forward to working in a nonprofit organization and using her skills for the community.

Amelia Jansen 
Internship Host | Trinity Missions 

Amelia Jansen is an undergraduate student at American University and will be graduating this fall with her Bachelors in Political Science from the School of Public Affairs. Amelia is passionate about faith, service and politics. She wants to pursue a career in ministry while working in the nonprofit sector after graduation. This summer she will be interning at the nonprofit Trinity Missions in their fundraising office.

Camille Koslo 
Internship Host | K2D Strategies 

Camille Koslo is a rising junior at George Mason University, studying to get her BFA in graphic design. She is extremely passionate about how art and design impact society, as art has always been a huge part of her life. By being the graphic design intern at K2D Strategies and a part of the TNPA Leading Edge Internship Program, she hopes to not only sharpen her skills as a designer but also make an impact and learn as much as possible.

Sophia Lemley 
Internship Host | Smile Train 

Sophia Lemley is a rising senior marketing major at the University of Maryland. She will be the Social Media Marketing Intern for Smile Train this summer in their New York City office. Sophia is excited to learn more about and work for a nonprofit organization and can’t wait to get started.

Nicole Moccio 
Internship Host | Orr Group 

Nicole Moccio is a rising senior at Fairfield University double majoring in Business Management and International Business with a minor in Humanitarian Action. Nicole has always had a strong passion for helping others and nonprofit work and is excited to be able to be a part of a company that is driven to help various nonprofits be as successful as they can be. Having worked with a few nonprofits in the past, Nicole is excited to be able to apply her knowledge to her work with Orr group and continue to learn more about the way nonprofit organizations and consulting firms function.

Rachel Mokriski 
Internship Host | The Nonprofit Alliance 

Rachel Mokriski is a rising senior at Georgetown University, majoring in Economics and Psychology. This summer, she will serve as a Policy Intern for TNPA’s Regulatory Counsel. She is eager to learn about the nonprofit sector, analyze regulatory policies, and connect with professionals working in nonprofits that serve their communities. In her free time, Rachel enjoys swimming, traveling, exploring, and playing with her dog.

Nabila Nishat Raisa, a driven Analytics student at American University’s Kogod School of Business, is a first-generation college student with financial expertise, consulting experience, and entrepreneurial spirit. Her passion lies in leveraging data-driven insights and financial acumen for societal change. With a track record of punctuality, responsibility, and ownership, Nabila seeks roles in social impact, eager to apply her diverse skill set and make a meaningful difference. As she approaches graduation in Spring 2025, she embodies resilience and determination, poised to leave an indelible mark wherever her journey takes her.

Clare Smith 
Internship Host | Moore

Clare Smith is a rising senior at the University of Maryland, studying Marketing and Spanish. An enthusiastic learner, Clare is passionate about coming alongside underserved women and empowering them through business. She is interning this summer with Moore Digital as a Digital Media Planning intern. In her free time, Clare loves spending time with friends, running, and serving her local community.

Serena Song is a student at the University of Maryland, College Park, studying Communication. Serena is actively involved in various campus activities and has a keen interest in media effects and health communication. This summer, she is excited to apply her skills and knowledge in a practical setting through her internship. Outside of her academic pursuits, Serena enjoys exploring new cuisines, hiking, and participating in community service projects.

Jason Taylor 
Internship Host | Moore

Jason Taylor is a master’s student studying marketing analytics at the University of Maryland following his graduation with a B.S. in Neuroscience. Jason’s recent participation in the Deloitte x UMD Datathon competition, in which his team won second place, has accelerated his passion for machine learning and data science. He hopes that he can utilize his knowledge to push the mission at Moore forward as he understands the importance of the work at non-profit organizations across the country. He looks forward to learning from his peers and immersing himself within the strong team-oriented culture at Moore.

Merin Thomas 
Internship Host | Capital Area Food Bank 

Merin Thomas is a rising junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is studying Public Health. She is part of the Community Scholars Program, a two-year cohort that centers around movement building, community engagement, and service learning. She is also a researcher at the Riley Lab, leading a project focused on microbiome science communication. This summer, Merin will be working as a Community Outreach Intern at Capital Area Food Bank, and looks forward to working with community members to address food insecurity. In her free time, Merin enjoys crafting of any form, reading, and walking with her two adorable dogs.

Donovan Wayman 
Internship Host | Lautman Maska Neill & Company

Donovan Wayman is a rising sophomore at the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance. His previous interest in working with nonprofits, paired with his finance background, led him to intern with Lautman Maska Neill & Co. in their business analytics and accounts department in the summer of 2024. He hopes to learn a lot from the many business professionals and driven peers to foster his intellectual growth in analytics, finance, and more.

Taylor Wilbon 
Internship Host | Fuse Fundraising

Taylor Wilbon is an upcoming junior studying Marketing and International Business at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. She is passionate about her work with Fuse Fundraising. With a strong interest in nonprofit work, Taylor is grateful to be part of the Fuse Fundraising program, where she can contribute to meaningful causes and develop her skills in nonprofit support and strategic marketing. She is eager to explore the nonprofit sector through the TNPA Leading EDGE Internship Program and acquire new skills to enhance her expertise.
