The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to protecting and strengthening the earned benefits of older Americans. It focuses on issues such as Social Security, Medicare, and the rising cost of living, working to influence legislation, provide educational resources, and represent the interests of retirees and seniors in public policy debates.

Wage Per Hour: $20.00
Schedule: Full-Time
Hours per week: 30 – 40 hours/week
Days Per week: 5

Responsibilities and Duties

Join our team as a Legislative Assistant Intern and gain hands-on experience at the heart of public policy and advocacy! This internship offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with our legislative and policy staff, contributing to meaningful initiatives that make a real impact.

Research & Policy Analysis: Conduct research on legislative issues, track bills, and summarize key policy developments for staff briefings.
Advocacy Support: Assist in preparing advocacy materials, including fact sheets, talking points, social media content, and outreach emails to stakeholders.
Communications & Writing: Draft newsletters, policy updates, and correspondence to partners, constituents, and policymakers.
Event & Meeting Support: Attend legislative hearings, prepare notes and reports to share with the team.
Data & Administrative Tasks: Help maintain legislative databases, monitor congressional activity, and support general administrative tasks that keep our advocacy efforts running smoothly.

Key Deliverables:
•Concise policy memos and bill summaries
•Weekly legislative tracking reports
•Notes and analysis from hearings, meetings, and briefings
•A final project showcasing your contributions, such as a policy brief, advocacy toolkit, or research report
