Responsibilities and Duties
As a Copywriter Intern at TrueSense Marketing, you will learn the basics of direct response communications. You’re curious, innovative, and creative. Through this opportunity, you will come to understand that direct response writing is a specific discipline, and you’ll work diligently to improve your knowledge. You’ll become familiar with your assigned clients and their work, moving multi-channel projects through various rounds of versioning, revisions, editing, and proofreading your work. You’ll work in a team-based environment and begin by doing edits with the goal of writing direct response copy for your clients. You’re eager to receive feedback and will work hard to tighten up your writing for maximum impact.
Essential Functions:
•Edits direct response fundraising copy for clients under the direction of the Creative Director or Senior Copywriter.
•Creates client-specific versions of copy/creative from already-created pieces, incorporating a client’s specific photos, copy, style, etc.
•Helps write newsletters on behalf of our clients and participates in planning content as well as collecting stories/doing interviews.
•Works collaboratively with designers, senior copywriters, copyeditors, production artists, creative directors, client services, and other team members to create the best possible work.
•Works with CD and/or Senior Copywriter to do research for campaigns and helps to brainstorm and concept when asked.
•Follows brand standards and has a strong attention to details.
•Follows established processes to keep jobs moving according to timelines and milestones.
•Seldom misses a deadline while juggling a large volume of work.

Education and Experience:
•Preferred Majors: English, Journalism, Advertising/PR, or a related field
•Excellent command of the written English language.
•2-4 years of experience in professional direct response/direct mail writing at an agency, in-house agency, commercial agency, non-profit, or equivalent.
•Fundraising experience preferred.
•Has a willingness to learn fundraising concepts, best practices, tactics, etc. and apply to one’s work.
